Mission

The BeTTV impresses with its long tradition, solid club network and strong organisational structure with dedicated full-time and volunteer staff. These are sustainably promoted through targeted training and further education of coaches and referees, as well as through our talent development programme. In addition, the topic of inclusion is becoming increasingly important to us – we are currently planning to introduce our own inclusion league.

With an active base of several thousand members and hundreds of teams, the BeTTV plays a central role in Berlin's sporting life.

Successes involving Berlin

  • 14 June 2019 – Four titles and 15 medals for the BTTV at the German Senior Championships in Erfurt.
  • 2 May 2023 – 12 medals for 13 Berliners at the German Senior Championships in Ahrensburg.
  • 21 May 2024 – At the German Senior Championships in Hamm, the Berlin team won 9 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 8 bronze medals.
  • 5 July 2025 – At the Berlin Girls' Team Cup Final, the club won bronze medals in both age groups (U15 and U13). (TTC 1990 Friedrichsfelde e.V.)

Year of Foundation and History

  • The BTTV was founded in 1927 and is thus the oldest regional association within the German Table Tennis Federation (DTTB).
  • It is considered one of the most traditional organizations in German table tennis.

Members & Clubs

  • Currently, the BTTV unites around 100 member clubs, including some from Brandenburg that participate in the Berlin competitions.
  • The total number of members is about 7,000, of which nearly 6,000 are active and eligible to play.

Structures & Organization

  • The association employs:
    • 2 full-time staff members in the office,
    • 1 full-time state coach,
    • several freelance coaches, and
    • around 50 honorary officials of the Berlin Table Tennis Association e.V.
  • In addition, about 500 teams actively participate in the BTTV’s competitions.

“Tournament of Thousands” – The Trademark of the BeTTV

  • Meaning: The TTT is one of the largest and most traditional grassroots tournaments in German table tennis.
  • Organizer: Berlin Table Tennis Association e.V.
  • Target group: Primarily youth and recreational players of all age groups.
  • Name origin: In the past, several thousand players often actually took part.
  • Special feature:
    • The tournament has a long history and has been held for decades in various age and performance categories.
    • It is also open to clubs from Brandenburg and other federal states that participate in Berlin competitions.
  • Current significance:
    • The TTT is a fixed date in Berlin’s table tennis calendar.
    • Many young talents gained their first major competition experience here – some even went on to become professionals.
